After 25 years, Richard Blaska has retired his consultancy, RCB Elevator Consulting, LLC. Services formerly specialized in elevator design and structural engineering for the elevator industry. Clientele were exclusively elevator contractors in support of major alteration projects and more complex, non-standard new construction.
Mr. Blaska is now full-time with Smart Elevator Tech, LLC, the specialized elevator products company he founded in 2010. Unique products Blaska designed and manufactures include the patented Retracta Ladder®, a retractable elevator pit ladder series that extend to 7", 18", 24" and the Powered Retracta Ladder® that extends to 36". New products this year include the weight-actuated Smart Ladder™ and the opening guard SmartGate Ladder™, that along with the Retracta Ladder® all meet the new ASME A17.1-2022/CSA B44:22 elevator standard. Other unique products include the Rope Align Block™ and the Low-Profile Fishplate™, the lowest rear projection seismic fishplate on the market.
